Ms. Buness' roots are in the mountains of Montana, with horses and a creek through the pasture below the house her musical mother and father built. Their musical roots helped her become a winner at NATS auditions, which inspired her to want to spend her life in music.

She spent her undergraduate years in Vocal Education at St. Olaf College and her Masters years in Vocal Performance at the University of Denver. She is currently on the voice faculty on the Auraria Campus in Denver, CO.

She continues to adjudicate vocal competitions and is an artist-in-residence with the New Music Ensemble called The Playground (playgroundensemble.org) through the auspices of the University of Denver.

Kyle MacMillan, Fine Arts Critic of the Denver Post has said of Ms. Buness' recent performance of Samuel Barber's Knoxville, "surprisingly versatile vocalist ...communicated the essential, nostalgic feel of the work, bringing a suitably haunting quality..."
