When I listen to music, I escape into the world the composer has created. As a singer, it is my duty to convey the composer’s story to the audience; I embody the character that I am playing. I strive to expose the character’s emotions and story so that the music will touch the hearts and souls of the audience. Maybe, just maybe, a little girl or boy will fall in love with the beauty of the music and decide to have music be part of their life. I want my generation to fall in love with opera and classical music the way it has been loved by other generations before me. My one wish is to invite my generation to follow me into this other world of glory and passion. Last summer I worked with Elizabeth Bachman at the Westchester Summer Vocal Institute. I came back as a completely new singer, and I knew that I had to go to TOP Opera in 2011. My journey to a career as an opera singer is only beginning and there are SO many things to learn. I am so excited to be a part of the Tyrolean Opera Program this summer! |
